We see thousands of new new cosmetic and personal care products coming out every year, but they all start to seem the same. Are there any products out there that don't exist but should? Is there anything left for cosmetic chemists to make anymore?

Sunscreen in pill form. How nice it would be to not have to cover yourself in lotion and then spend the rest of the day worrying about whether you need to reapply. And how nice it would be to not have to fight with my kids every morning in the summer about covering them in lotion and then spend the rest of the day knowing that they're not going to reapply it.

Also, a safe, effective, not-too-painful, not-too-expensive and really, truly permanent method of hair removal. One that gets rid of all the hair in the target area, forever.

My other dream products aren't really new; they're just vastly improved versions of what's already out there -- the perfect sheer lipstick that moisterizes and stays on all day, hair color that doesn't fade, face creams that really do eliminate fine lines and age spots -- you know, nothing too outragous.

Purple, a sunscreen pill sounds interesting. For some reason I'm thinking of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory when Violet ate the blueberry gum and blew up and turned blue. In this case she'd turn orange-like a huge Oompa Loompa.

Oh...this is TOO EASY...a wrinkle cream that WORKED. I believe it would be called the FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH!

We'd all be careful... we promise. Please, please, please can we have it?

TailFeather, only the generic version will turn you orange; the real one turns you a lovely shade of bronze or whatever the perfect shade of "tan" is for you.

Cate, they're not instantaneous but Poshe and Seche Vite top coats both work really well. You can use your hands in about 5 minutes. I've gone to bed 1/2 hour after applying and not gotten sheet marks.

This isn't necessarily a single product per se but wouldn't it be great if you could change your polish as easily as your lip gloss?

Sariel--blackhead removal is key. Mine are my own fault too. I don't wash my face often enough. I feel like I break out less when I don't wash it. Mine are clustered on my chin...very irritating.

LOL...that's what I was thinking, Purple, that the generic version of the sunscreen pill would turn you into a Great Pumpkin. :p

I actually don't like the look of the spray tan; If I were to do that, I would just use my old neutrogena self tanner. They both use DHA, so it's essentially the same thing. And with the neutrogena lotion I can put it on a bit more carefully than the spray tan goes on. I also don't like how the spray tan uses a bronzer for immediate effect. It turns everything orange! And you can't get wet for 6 hours. With the neutrogena lotion you only have to wait 1 hour.

I love the way Cover Girl Out Last stays on my lips from 6 am to 10 pm, then comes off easily with Vaseline. I want eye color & eye liner that do that same thing. Give it about 30-60 seconds of play for blending, then it stays put until I remove it instead of fading away by 5 or coming off on my fingers if I forget and rub my eyes.

BTW, if you do come up with that permanent hair removal, make sure it's not a cream or lotion. My 3 kids and 3 godkids mistook a bottle of Nair for sunscreen when they were 4-8, and we had 6 little kids with no eye brows or body hair. (Luckily no one got any in their eyes.)

Sariel and cate: have you tried BHA for your blackheads? I had a couple of horribly enlarged pores on my nose from when I was a teen. No matter how clean I kept my skin, they were constantly collecting oil and dirt and forming blackheads (and getting more enlarged) well into my late 30s. Then I read that BHA is oil-soluble and can penetrate and help clear out the gunk in the pores, so I started using it. It wasn't an instant fix but over the course of several months my pores got clean, stayed clean, and eventually shrank back to normal size.

Hey Mactans, there is an eyeliner that will stay on! I posted somewhere else on this site about it. I'm going to copy and paste it here:

Try Liquidlast liner by MAC; that stuff is crazy. I found it by accident on a recent trip to MAC. I was trying all sorts of things on the back of my hand and when I was done, I used some makeup remover to take off all the stuff I tried. Well, everything came off... except the Liquidlast. Since all the salesgirls were busy, I figured I'd just try the sanitation alcohol they have out to get it off, thinking that of course alcohol will take it off... didn't budge. When I got a sales girl to help me, she said it needed to be removed with an oil-based makeup remover and, sure enough, it came right off. I was amazed and bought it immediately. When I got home, I decided to give it a real test and tried rubbing it, rubbing it under water, hand soap, dish soap, face soap and it stayed put. I bought Neutrogena eye makeup remover to take it off. Even though that remover is actually oil-free, it has an oily consistency and the eyeliner swiped right off. It's definitely not for beginners, though, because it's harder to fix if you screw up and it doesn't really have the best consistency. It's very thick and gooey, which makes it hard to apply, especially with the brush that comes with it (it's in a tube with a brush in the cap). I haven't tried it yet, but I think next time I'll use a thinner, clean brush. It might just be gooey because the brush is so saturated with liner from being in the tube.

As for eyeshadow, try the primer by Urban Decay under your shadow. It's seriously amazing. Your shadow will stay put and not crease. I have oily skin and this stuff makes my eyeshadow stay put allllllllll day long. Look up reviews of it; people love it because it works so well!

PurpleRules--love love LOVE the Poshe nail polish quick dry top coat. Oh my goodness! I just painted my nails with 6 football minutes left in the first half in the USC--Notre Dame game. There is still 1:21 and my nails are ready to go! THANK YOU!

P.S. They are pink to match my hair. I have to edit the costume. I think I look a bit Julia Roberts from Pretty Woman only with pink hair and not blonde!

You might want to go back to the thread called "Tell Us Your Latest Makeup Purchase" and look what I posted near the bottom of page 1 regarding Neutrogena's Healthy Skin Enhancer Tinted Moisturizer. It is three products combined into one: a tinted moisturizer, a retinol, and a sunscreen. I really like it and it won't break the bank either as far as price.

Also, taiwanesegurl has shared her success using a product called Salonpas for acne. It's not actually packaged as an acne remedy so you have to hunt for it in the aisle where topical muscle & ligament ache products are kept. I just bought a package myself on Sunday and was amazed at how rapidly it worked. (And thanks, Gloria! Found it!)

Anne:  The no more grays thing would be great!  Apparently my old job was more stressful than I originally thought because now I am graying on my temples.  I just had my hair colored and within 3 weeks those darn grays were back 

Well, I used to only spend money on my hair...it is my pride and joy, but now I'm really into make-up too and so now I just save save save for my hair ;)
