This story is amusing. Lindsay Lohan is blaming her recent troubles on the fact that she has red hair.
    <a href="http://in.news.yahoo.com/070824/43/6juvs.html">Lindsay blames her red hair</a>

Here's her quote, 'It's statistically proven that redheads are always more prone to bounce around the classroom, and believed to have attention deficit disorder more than any other hair colour."

While I couldn't find anything that directly supports her notion, I did find this <a href="http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?Db=pubmed&Cmd=ShowDetailView&TermToSearch=16414174&ordinalpos=9&itool=EntrezSystem2.PEntrez.Pubmed.Pubmed_ResultsPanel.Pubmed_RVDocSum">study published in Biological Psychology</a> that suggested blond children in Europe are actually more "behaviorally inhibited" than more pigmented haired people.

What do you think, are red-heads really more trouble? That could explain some of Sarah's behavior.

Oh yes, I'm sure it's her hair....Lindsay's that is!

I just don't think the Beauty Brains community has enough information to make a judgment about Sarah so we'll just have to take your word for it!.

If it's not her hair color, then what else could it be? It's certainly not the way she was brought up; her parents are both contenders for the "Best Parents Ever" award.

I decided to think about it. I mean REALLY think about it. Since Lindsay specifically contexts this in reference to children who act out at school and I am a special ed teacher, was it possible her explanation matched what I’ve encountered in my professional life? Here’s what I can say:

    • I have definitely not seen a noticeable pattern of the disruptive children being red-heads
    • I have never heard a school psychologist or social worker mention a connection between hair color and behavior
    • I have never heard of any studies suggesting that red-headed children have a higher incidence of behavioral issues in a grad level class, seminar, or workshop for special educators
    • I have never seen a study in a professional journal or book that suggested hair color influences behavior in children

So I say, “Nice try, Lindsay.” It’s the same thing I'd say to students who might try to tell me their dog ate their homework.

hrmmm, I have never known a red-head that got into THAT much trouble. As a wannabe redhead, I did have more fun when I was younger (meaning early 20s), but I think I would have had that fun regardless of my hair color.

As a redhead with two brunette sisters, I can tell you this:

    • I'm the "weird" one.
    • I have by far the worst temper.
    • I was the only honor student, but also the one who chose to major in art while my sisters chose Nutritional Science and Paralegal Studies.
    • I'm the only one who was never officially disciplined in school.

Soooooo... temper? Yes. Eccentricity? Sure (though I think mine is born more from the fact that I was always going to stand out and just learned to own it). Behavioral problems? Well, maybe if she were from England where redheads get beat up and maligned. But she's from Long Island (like me). So I'm thinking no.

    :)

I am a redhead thanks to the wonders of chemistry (AKA haircolor)..otherwise I would just be a mousy brunette....well let's be honest...since I haven't seen my REAL hair color in eons I am probably a mousy grey-haired person! Maybe that is why I don't have neither Lindsay's talent nor her problems.

The problem I have with being an ersatz redhead is that my color never lasts as long as I would like...boo...hoo! However my hairdresser tells me that is completely normal...grrrrrr.

Sassett, your hair color is what I aspire to!

ditto.. my hair color is just black.. boring ol' black.. i love how red looks, as well as blonde, blonde, copper, and many other shade, but i always go back to red..

and Judy... i try not to wash my hair too much during the 1st 2 weeks.. the hair normally stays a tad bit longer... i also dye it a darker red in the beginning, so when it fades, it just fades to a ligther red..

Coincidentally today in the SF Chronicle I read an article datelined London that detailed how "Gingers" (Brit slang for redheads) have always been discriminated against in the UK. Odd isn't it since Queen Elizabeth I, Fergie, and now Prince Harry are all gingers...

    <a href="http://www.coxwashington.com/news/content/reporters/stories/2007/08/09/BRITAIN_REDHEADS08_COX.htmll">Gingers in England</a>

Do you think we will see Harry and his Aunt Fergie manning the barricades to protest this unfair treatment? Of course it does help to explain their unconventional/rebellious behaviour, doesn't it.?

By washing her hair right after getting it colored, she pulls out a lot of the color. That way, she doesn't notice it going down the drain over the next 6 weeks. Unfortunately, her hair won't look as bright/vibrant initially.

How long should you wait to wash your hair after getting it colored. I've heard everything from "it doesn't matter" to 3 days. I try for 3 days but sometimes I don't make it that long; my hair really needs to be washed every other day.

The longer you wait, the better. But as you know it's a trade-off. You can't stop washing your hair and still have clean hair. 3 days seems reasonable.

By the way, if keeping your hair color the way it looked when you first got it done is what you want then it does matter.

Don't say that! I love black hair. I tried to dye my hair black in high school (I was super goth at the time, I'm less goth now but still love black hair). I had a pixie cut so I ended up looking like a renegade Liza Minnelli. Plus, it made me look really sallow. If I read Harry Potter at the time, I would have guessed I was Snape's sister.
My hair's naturally dirty blonde (Such an icky name), so I dye it Chocolate Cherry by Feria. Check it out, it comes out deep, deep red on me:

I worked on a pedi/adol psychiatric unit for 2 years and it did not appear that we got a disproportionate number of redheads.

I'm a chem redhead and I love it! I can use it (and my ADD) as a crutch for my outlandish mouth. Hehe! My mom is a life-long ginger and it's actually faded to a pretty strawberry blonde. She claims there are gray hairs but I don't believe her.

Poor Lindsay. I just want to bitchslap that mother of hers!

this was my first attempt at creating a 'movie' -- a mock-u-mentary of bad behavior in honor of paris hilton. i've already started work on the next for lindsay, i want to use a clapton song, and feature lindsay with a crowd of scary prison chix ready. working title is 'when it comes to love, i want some LOHAN' ;-)
