    Hi Everyone

I'm thinking of changing up my skin care from Philsophy products to Kiehls products.
I've been using Philosophy for 2 years now and think I might need a change.

Any Kiehl users out there want to let me know there thoughts on the products?

    Thanks

I am NOT a Kiehls user but have been tempted until I saw the prices. However I know that Paula Begoun...the Cosmetics Cop....says that its products are over-hyped and priced. Check out her website and see if the product you are interested in is worth investing in. Here is her general impression of the line:

    Kiehl's
The line has been around for quite some time; it has its origins in a family-owned pharmacy. Still, the products hardly warrant excitement or even mild enthusiasm. Most of them are surprisingly ordinary, with a dusting of natural ingredients almost always at the very end of the ingredient list, well past the preservatives. That amounts to little more than a token attempt to make the products appear more natural to the consumers who want to believe a plant or vitamin must somehow be better for the skin than something that sounds more chemical. Nevertheless, that token amount is enough to allow Kiehl's to brag about how its products nourish the skin or are more environmentally friendly.

I have noticed that Kiehls has stand-alone stores now. That must cost alot and might result in even higher prices.

My very timid advice would be to try one product and see if you like it. If you do...enjoy and ignore the anti-hype!

Hi there - I'm Kristen and I'm new to the forum, but not new to The Beauty Brains, I LOVE it loyally...

I have used both Philosophy and Kiehls skincare products, and I deifnitely like Philosophy better. They are both expensive brands, granted, and in terms of how they compare to other, inexpensive brands - well, that's a whole big can of worms. But in terms of Philosohpy vs. Kiehls, my opinion definitely sides with the former.

The Philosophy 'Purity' face wash and 'Hope In A Jar' cream are my two favorites. I also have the 'When Hope Is Not Enough' serum which I like as well, but don't have any particular raves about. I'm only 25, and I tend to look for quality ingredients that I have read a lot about, and products that aim for gentle daily use, protecting against typical enviornmental and other factors as best as any topical skincare can.

Philosophy have their vitamin C in powder form (ascorbic acid), and suggests mixing it with their serum at the time of each application. This shows me that they are cognisant of the implications that mixing vitamin C with any hydrous base (water-based) formula creates - which causes oxidation and negates the scientifically proven benefits. This says a lot about the company and thus their products to me.

Also, I find the face wash gives me the perfect balance of washing well and not drying out my skin at all - it's really hard to acheive, and I am certain has a lot to do with individual skin. I really love my Hope In A Jar though - I went through a whole phase of skin care mania, and never really found anything that so greatly changed the overall quality of my skin. Sometimes it's not about über-dramatic results, but instead is about what is good and gentle on your skin and contains quality, proven ingredients.

    Hope my opinion helps!

I love Kiehls and I'm thinking about grabbing their tinted moisturizer, it's half the cost of laura mercier and I'm not very impressed with Laura at the moment despite the cult following....

    curious... curious...

I've loved all of philosophy's products and have been using them for over 2 years.

I've noticed lately it isn't giving me the same effect it use to and I switched for a bit but I'm definitely going back.

Maybe my skin just needed to reminded of how good it had it.

I haven't tried a lot of each brand, but purity made simple is very gentle and kiehl's moisture lotion spf15 is the best moisturizer with spf i tried.
