The Beauty Bunny put together this list of 21 Beauty Rules to Live by. Some are pretty good but I think the Beauty Brains here can come up with more.
So, what are your beauty rules?
Janis' rule is also one of mine. My version has been: don't do anything for beauty now that will probably compromise my beauty when I am older. For me, that includes wearing pointy high heeled shoes that would lead (on my wide feeet) to unattractive calluses, bunions, and hammertoes. Another of my main beauty rules (learned through experience): when it comes to color cosmetics and clothes, I only wear things that are flattering on me, even if that means not wearing the latest trend or style.
Avoid blue eye shadow like the plague. (Blue eye liner is okay.)
It's a lot easier to get a decent night's sleep than it is to make yourself look as if you got a decent night's sleep.
Fighting Mother Nature sometimes isn't worth it. Your natural hair color probably isn't as horrendous as you think; try tweaking it rather than changing it entirely.
In general, I agree that you shouldn't do things now that you will regret later (tanning, smoking, etc) but I'm not prepared to give up stilettos entirely although I don't wear them as much as I used to.
Hmm.. I break some of these rules quite often. I love pointy-toed stilettos. Nope, won't be giving those up. I don't wear them all day, pretty much just for going out and I'm willing to deal with any ill effects in the future. I really don't think I'm doing all that much damage to my feet.
I also wear blue eyeshadow!!!
But I wear a really deep, slightly iridescent navy as a wash over the lids sometimes when I go out. We're not talking pastel blues up to my eyebrows.
a couple of rules that I live by: I never let my nails grow uncontrollably; it grosses me out. And I NEVER sleep in my makeup. Never ever. ICK. I won't even put my face on a pillow if I have makeup on. It feels icky to me and I don't want makeup on my pillow. Oh! and I never hug someone with a white shirt on when I have makeup on. As "stay proof" as it says it is, it's never stay-proof enough... especially with my oily skin.
Well now Purple I wear a little blue eyeshadow on game days. I've got to support my team even though they are blue...but it is used very sparingly I like using the liner or Bad Gal Blue mascara much better.
I say a little exercise daily like walking or going tot he gym helps you look good and feel good..
Plenty of water
Don't drink from straws...same effect as smoking cigs
no tanning
healthy diet...very hard right now seeing as that I don't have a kitchen
soon though next week
I don't wear make-up in the summer or warmer months....I have the most amazing freckles that I don't want to cover up and I like the natural glow of my skin....ok so maybe a little mascara...
I seriously only wash my face once a day and with Cetaphil and for the most part it is pretty clear except that 'special" time...
No smoking, no tanning, exercise, eat right. Where's the fun?
I agree Pas71, really long nails are creepy. How do people get anything done with those things?
Wine and chocolate (in moderation) are practically required, as far as I'm concerned.
I try to buy good cosmetics, meaning good make up, not the price but the ingridients is the main thing.
And things that are right for my very sensitive skin, I'm super alergic so I have to be careful, If I have to pay a little more for a product that wont irritate me I will.
I stay away from Alcohol in general, don't smoke, don't drink cofee, and try not to eat unhealthy food, *I might sin from time to time with Pizza*
I take my time with my hair and make myself use a deep conditioner one a week ot at least once every two weeks it makes a lot of difrence in my dry hair.
I trim my hair every tree months just the tips of it, or more if I'm not growing it.
Like now just the tips keep it healthy and it grows, even if takes longer to get to lent that I want it , gets there with out slipt ends.
Good god! I drink like a fish, have several cups of coffee a day and LOOOOVE stilettos. I'm a phd student; I would literally fall apart without booze and caffeine. Maybe some people can survive without those things, but I am highly aware of the fact that no one in my department can.
@tsunamino - "don't believe everything that you hear from cosmetics companies" - LOL! Definitely the truth.
another...
Don't fall for the idea that super expensive beauty products are better...they're not
Judging from the number of women who still tan and smoke, yes, some people still need to be reminded.
I stand by my wine, chocolate and a good night's sleep regimen. I got the batteries but I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do with them.
