I recently cut my hair short and really hate it! Is there anything out there that will speed up the growth process?
  1.
Keep your hair happy and healthy, eat your veggies and fruits and protein, and get regular hair trims!

I'm not sure regular trims are really applicable for someone who is growing their hair. You might end up with a stylist who cuts off all the new growth.

Trims every 6 months to 12 months should be more than sufficient, if you had to even trim at all.

I've been getting my hair trimmed every 6-8 weeks for the past few years, and it grows really fast. Plus you'll probably never ever find a split end on this head!

I'm going to bring out the nanny in me and quote Mama Bear from "The Berenstain Bears" Sister Bear made a great baseball catch but fell into a sticker bush and got stickers all in her hair...Mama had to cut them and her hair and she couldn't wear her ribbon it was so short AND picture day was coming up at school...what a mopey sad bear she was. Mama said:

"It'll grow when it grows and there is nothing you can do about it."

OR you could just wear a kerchief or a cool hat :pirate: :trompet:!!

Patience is a virtue. I cut 12 inches off my hiar recently and I went through the I can't style this phase, but I didn't cry this time! Although my cowlick is enough to make me NEVER cut bangs again!

Ah! Same thing happened to me four years ago! Finally I left it alone, and four years later it is incredibly long and I love it! So, look at it this way, you've given yourself a clean slate to work with, so when it does grow out it will be lovely.

Oh, I can give you one suggestion- I think my hair grows faster in the summer, so you could move to the Southern Hemisphere!

Good luck, and find some cute clips to wear in it while you wait for it to grow out!

Cutting your hair does not make it grow!!
Some believe if you take Biotin it will help. The jury is still out on that one.
If your really hate the cut, there are clip-ins you can get now that will look real. Try Sally Beauty. I know they sell them. I sell them, too.
The real hair will cost you quite a bit, but they have synthetic that looks and feels real, too.
    buenos dias,

Lynnette: I started taking Biotin about 4 months ago for my hair and nails. While I haven't seen definite results yet (and know there is no hard evidence that it works), I'm going to stay with it for a while.

How long do you think would be reasonable to make the determination it's helping or not?

*butting in politely* I'm taking biotin too Karen, plus a whole other host of stuff too - last year I went through a very very stressful period (work & personal life)- that I lost hair!! I had bald patches so much fell out. I had to go to the dermatologist to get cortisone shots to jump start the hair growth (after a bunch of blood tests confirmed it wasn't anything like a thyroid problem or something.) - anyway, my derm recommended taking zinc, in addition to staying more relaxed and not stressing and making sure I had a healthier diet. I decided to take biotin too after going through a lot of discussions on the longhaircommunity forum.

I would say to give it at least 6 months, if not more, before deciding. jmho.

( i just realized you can edit your post on here. cooll!)

    Karen,
I would say it would take quite a long time to see results. For my nails, it takes at least 8 months to grow out, so I would say it would take quite some time.
Sylvie--- I had to go back to see your type. I read it as tests!!! lol...
I am taking fish oil, too. I am hearing so much about this, I figure what the heck? It is cheap enough. Just bought some along with more Biotin for my stocking. (yes, do my own for DH!!)
    buenos noches,
    Lynnette

Lynnette- hahaha- it was "blood testes" 1st because of a typo! but then I realized you can go back and edit your post, so i went back and corrected it. It certainly changes the meaning of the sentence with that typo in it! lol

I take the fish oils too- but to help lower my cholesterol. I don't get much (hardly at all) fish in my diet- because don't really like fish and I hate the smell of salmon. I'm more of a seafood kind of gal anyway- shrimp, lobster, scallops.. mmmmmm

Yeah I' m taking biotin too! I haven't really noticed much I have been w/ it for about two months now, along w/ fish oil. I notice that if I (eat my fruits and veggies) get my ends trimmed every 8 weeks (I know this might sound a little craxy) I only get 1/4 of a inch cut off. I keep my ends healthy with not too much heat and I deep condition twice a month. You see major results this way and not a spilt end in sight with really nice length results.

vroth, I went through a short-hair period during college, so i feel your pain. It took 2 years to grow to a comfortable just-below-the shoulders length. As strange as it sounds, regular trims seemed to help accelerate the growth- or maybe it was just about perception? To get through the transition, I utilized clips and headbands. just stay patient and don't worry, hair will grow back!

no cosmetic product will grow your hair except for drugs like propecia and minoxidil. guys do you know if the aminexil by l'oreal is proven to promote hair growth like minoxidil?

    I don't know, but I'm skeptical.

They provide some data from a clinical study which also included a placebo.  If the data is real, it seems like aminexil might work.  However, the data is from 1995 and if this product really worked in a significant way you can bet that in 13 years it would've easily outsold products with minoxidil.

    Aminexil study

I suspect what you have is a product that can be shown to work under testing conditions but not in real use.

    may i join the club???
i have curly hair and i want it to growwwwwwwww but its taking forever... ive tried everything! euuuurrrrthing! now im trying this product called hair formula 37 its like 9 pills a day and a shampoo and conditioner... i didnt notice much of a difference but i hardly ever do but everyone that knows me is always saying how healthier my hair looks. i mean im thinking it could be because i just stopped my weekly ritual or straightening my hair.. i have noticed my hair did grow a bit but thats natural right? so i was parting my hair differently the other day so that my hair doesn't get use to one position and i was surprised to see my baby hair has grown so much!!!! i mean at first i thought it was just hair that was cut or trimmed wrong but looking closer it seemed very healthy and waaaay in the front hair line.... so i dont know maybe this stuff is working... im going to keep using it until im done with this batch this is my second order of it. its a lil costly but if it works im willing to pay whtever it takes for it to be long and healthy again.
    hope this helps
