How incredibly disappointed I am in Paula. Usually she's not so easily snowed by BS.

First she says that the formula "...stands a very good chance of making eyelashes longer and darker. It contains mostly water, water-binding agents, pH adjuster, slip agent, preservative, film-forming agents, and the "active" ingredient, which is listed as 7-(3, 5-dihydroxy-2-(3-hydroxy-4-(3-(triflormethyl) phenoxy)-1-butenyl) cyclopentyl), N-ethyl, )1R-(alpha(Z), 2beta (1E,3R), 3alpha, 5alpha))."

Then she goes on to say the ingredient "...is similar to a class of ingredients known as prostaglandin analogues. These drugs, including latanoprost, bimatoprost, and travoprost, are used to treat eye health problems such as glaucoma or ocular hypertension. One of the common side-effects of ocular administration of eye drops containing prostaglandin analogues is growth and darkening of the eyelashes."

Alright, if the ingredient that is in the Jan Marini product has ANY effect on hair growth then the product is an illegal drug. It doesn't matter if it is an analog compound or not. Drugs are chemicals that affect cellular metabolism. If a chemical is going to make hair grow, it's an illegal drug. Paula should know better than to recommend this product.

I got a pamplet on Jan Marini's Age Intervention Eyelash Conditioner. I thought this statement was interesting:

    "Users will perceive that their lashes appear fuller and more lustrous."

Perceive.

No studies to back up all the promises, I guess.

I have a question.  In my field of work (I'm a nanny) I am around children all the time.  I have noticed a trend in children's eyelashes being so long and luxurious and I find myself being super jealous of the 3 year old boy I watch.  But so many children that I have come across over the past 13-14 years have amazing eyelashes.  Could it be due to pre-natal vitamins?  I doubt my mother took them when she was pregnant with myself and siblings.  Just curious.

Color me skeptical on the Keracyte...especially at a whopping $160!!  Yikes!

If the product does work as it says, then it is stimulating hair growth which would make it an untested, potentially unsafe drug.  Jan Marini's product just got seized by authorities for this exact problem. 

If it isn't a drug, then the product doesn't actually work and wouldn't be worth the $160.  There are ways for Keracyte to market this drug by going through the proper channels of the FDA and doing all the required safety testing.  To say that the product is safe without proper drug screening is just not right.

But if you're curious, feel free to try it out.  To see if it's really doing something you should apply it only to one eye and see if the eyelashes on that one grows longer than the untreated eye.  We've suggested this before but no one has been willing to try.

For $3.99 it is totally worth trying!  It's not likely to work but at least you aren't out $150 like with Jan Marini or Revitalash.  I say go for it.  But keep a critical eye on whether it's working or not.
