I use several products on my hair that contain mineral oil and/or petrolatum. I know they are good moisturizers and they make my hair look awesome. My question is whether or not conditioner washing will remove them or if I need to use a shampoo occasionally to prevent buildup. I have not been shampoo-free for very long (approx. 2 months) and I haven't noticed any problem yet, but I'd like to prevent one if necessary. I have a mild shampoo made with olefin sulfonate and a shampoo bar that I could use. Would these be sufficient or should I use a SLS shampoo? How often should I shampoo if that is necessary?

    Thanks!

If you are satisfied with how your hair feels, then you don't need to use a shampoo.  But if you start to dislike the feeling a mild shampoo should remove any build-up you might be experiencing.
